Professor Henry and Collaborators Awarded $4.8M to Develop High Temperature Heat Exchangers

Professor Henry is part of a team led by close collaborator Professor Ken Sandhage at Purdue University, that was selected by the Department of Energy SunShot Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) program to receive $4.8M towards the development and testing of new composite material based high temperature heat exchangers. The key advancement is the use of a novel ceramic rich composite material that allows the material to remain stiff at extremely high temperatures. The other key to the proposed approach is a scalable manufacturing method for making the material into the complicated shapes needed for printed circuit heat exchangers.
